Hi all,
Well, we are here at the first meeting for the year. I am writing this President’s report with excitement that 2020 is now behind us and 2021 is here and we are having meetings back at the club room.
Firstly, I would like to thank anyone (including my wife who is a COVID nurse) who has helped to keep Victoria and Australia safe from this dreaded virus. We only have to see other places around the world especially in Europe and North America to see the anguish it is causing, hopefully these guys will eventually get on top of it as well.
I would like to offer my condolences on behalf of the club to Andrew Staines, Andrew’s mother has just recently passed away, and I for one know how hard that is after losing my own mother in late October. You are in our thoughts Andrew.
This month we start with a BBQ at the club rooms. The BBQ will be turned on at 6.30pm and it is free for all members. This will be followed by a Special meeting than the General meeting. I hope to see so many familiar faces at the BBQ and meeting.
The Australia Day run was a huge success, there is a run report in the newsletter. I would like to thank Peter and Linda Corrigan for their hospitality for hosting us on the day.
Our run for this month is down to Arthurs Seat to Charlies Museum and further details are in the newsletter. The run for March will most likely be with the Melbourne Chapter to the Coburg Drive Inn. I will have further details soon about the date etc, once I hear from Pappy.
I would like to end this report with a positive note. This is the start of our 51st year, but we will be partying hard later in the year. Preparations are already in progress for our belated 50th birthday celebrations. More details will follow in the coming months. Just on events we are still hosting the state titles in October and further details are in the newsletter. I hope to see every member at this year’s state titles.
Anyway, that’s it for me for the month, I look forward to seeing so many familiar faces throughout the year.
If you are on the road, please drive safe.
Jason.
