I arrived at the hall at 3.45 to find Bruce and Lillian Graham had been there for a long while clearing and cleaning, Lillian had scrubbed our new kitchen while Bruce was cleaning the floors and sorting out furniture etc. I will take this opportunity to say a big thank you to you both.
With the hall looking great after the renovations, including a new kitchen and toilets and sanded floor along with a new heating and cooling system, and our colour/full set up for dinner we were all set for a great night.
Right on time our new Caterer arrived and he decided that our storage garage was the ideal place for his ovens, and the other kitchen suited him for the majority of his work,so we left him to it. With Geoff and Ian there as well we cleared the rest of the hall and set up the tables and chairs.
From 5.30 on people started to arrive at 7pm most had arrived and settled in and the pre/dinner nibbles were available.
At 7.30pm we presented the first of the Trophies they were:
Car of the month (total 13)
Car Participation (total 8)
(The Trophy results with recipients is presented elsewhere in the Newsletter)
Jason had set up a Television with constant photos of our runs and events for the year along with music.
Our items for the Auction were on display and created interest, Lucky door prize tickets were issued to members as they arrived the prizes being $50 Rare Spare vouchers.
It was then time for our main course, this was a Buffet with our new caterer “Jamie” serving the meat dishers. It was well done with a great variety of lovely food, many had a second serve.
With the Main course over it was time for the main Trophies presentations. There was one member who blitzed it,taking Car of the Year, Dash Fascia and Top Aggregate, Congratulations Rod Grummitt!! well rewarded for the effort and welcome back onto the committee Derk as this years Top Clubman. We also congratulate Peter Corrigan and Chris Kane as our latest Life Members.
Our Encouragement Award went to Garry Hislop.
We then we had two Novelty Awards.Pete Corrigan’s grass mowing skills in Tassie were recognised along with Chris Fox’s Broken Axel award, that is in no way referring to the way Chris drives regardless of what some people say!!.
Well by now most folk had enjoyed a few drinks and all were very happy,so we had our dessert and our caterer had excelled with a terrific choice of desert dishes.
Then it was time for our resident auctioneer “Big Trev” to take control of the Presentation Night Auction and as he alway’s does, it was loud, funny and very successful. We had a great result from the auction as you will see in the Treasures report. We had lots of willing bidders, one being Lyn Kane who was very keen for Husband Chris to participate “very Successful” , Thank’s Chris. But seriously Thank’s Trev for a great Job.
So we reached the time when our night was ending, with a count of 57 people attending we started to pack up. Thank you to every one that came along and helped to set up and pack up also it lead to a great night that was enjoyed by all. We look forward to next Year.
