Hi all,
Firstly, apologies for the lateness of this newsletter, as most would know my mother passed away on Friday 30th of October at 10.30pm at the Geelong Hospital. She had been quite ill for the best part of the last year. This has delayed the publication of the newsletter.
My mother’s funeral is on Wednesday 11th of November in Geelong and I would like to acknowledge here in this report all the condolence messages I have received from out great club. Thankyou.
The Premier of Victoria has finally made Victoria into one state again with the lifting of the regional border to metropolitan Melbourne. Janine has been planning the Presidents run to Echuca over the last few months and we had the 14th of October accommodation booked for quite some time. You would know through all the correspondence that has been sent through newsletters an Facebook messages that numbers had to be in by Saturday 31st of October 2020. We have 16 rooms booked and confirmed.
Sadly, this is the new COVID normal where we have to know in advance who is attending so we can accommodate. Sadly, for the moment we cannot just have people show up and expect to be able to obtain a room or meet for dinner as all establishments have tight patronage numbers that they must adhere to. These are the rules of the Victorian Government and is out of our control. I am sure everyone understands.
Now that we are back driving further than 25kms and restrictions are lifted, we anticipate having more club runs, so watch this space, check on Facebook (join the group if you are not already on it).
That’s it for me — The club officially starts our 50th Birthday celebrations next month — a year of celebrations I think will be in order for the club.
More important than ever, please stay safe and look after each other.
Jason.
