Welcome to the official website of the Early Model Holden Club of Victoria Inc.
The Early Model Holden Club was formed in 1970 (first meeting was on the 18th December 1970) and is open to car enthusiasts who own 48–215 and/or FJ Holdens (1948 — 1956). The club is a non profit organisation and is run by its members.
We encourage all people who own an early to join. It does not matter what condition your car is in to join the club. There are many potential members out there who believe that their car is not good enough to be in a club. Many members drive an early as their family or work transport. Really, it does not matter what it looks or goes like!
Our club meets at the 1st Syndal Scout Hall, Bogong Reserve, Bogong Avenue, Glen Waverley — on the first Wednesday of each month (except January) at 8 pm.
Club runs are held on the 3rd weekend of month and some months the club may have 2 runs per month, to suit all members (unless otherwise arranged, and in December where our Christmas breakup is held earlier in the month). Points are awarded to members over the year for their participation at all club activities and functions. Members are awarded an extra point if there Early is taken on a club run. Bonus points are also awarded to members who contribute in a special way eg. Helping with newsletter, organising events etc.
Every year in July the club holds its annual Presentation Night. Trophies are awarded in recognition for our member’s efforts and support throughout the year. A dinner at a restaurant is usually the venue for the night out. A raffle and auction are also part of the evening.
Our club is one of approximately 30 similar clubs in Australia wide and is affiliated with the Australian Early Holden Federation. Every second year, one State organises a National event to be held in their respective State. The primary objective of the Federation is to promote the Early Holdens and run the nationals as a gathering for all Australian Clubs. This is held immediately after Christmas, runs for approx. 4 days, and includes Show & Shine (trophies awarded), driving events, Club sports games etc. There are 7 different classes of vehicle depending on modifications. These are Stock, Improved Stock, Street Custom, Modified Street Custom, Mild Custom, Wild Custom and Show class (for trailered Vehicles). For example, Mild Custom would be a stock bodied vehicle with a red motor, 4 speed transmission, HR running gear and bucket seats.
Every year a Victorian Club hosts and runs the annual Victorian State Titles which basically is run under similar guidelines to the nationals, enabling all clubs throughout Victoria (and interstate if able) to participate.
A motel is usually booked where the majority of members / entrants stay together on the Saturday night prior to the Show & Shine etc. the following day.
Our newsletter is published monthly and is distributed at Club meetings. The newsletter has provision for trade advertisers that the Club recommends to our members. This can be invaluable when building a car as many members have used and recommended these tradesmen.
Rare Spares offer a 10% discount on parts upon presentation of your current membership badge, as do some other advertisers.
Many of our members have a wealth of knowledge also and all you have to do is ask and you will find all of your questions answered.
Club runs are arranged at least once a month and are varied with the aim of trying to please everyone. These runs include Family Days, B.B.Q’s, Ten Pin Bowling, Go Cart racing, Picture Nights, Car Shows, drives to places of interest eg. Wineries, tourist attractions. If you have a good idea for a run, speak to a member of the committee as we are always looking for fresh ideas.
Hoping that the information provided gives you an idea of our Club!
